Swimming – Exercise of the Week
As we know, exercises don’t only have to take place in the gym setting with the likes of equipment and weights. Swimming offers a total body exercise and is a function that is often referred to as a life skill. This week we decided to highlight it as our exercise of the week for two reasons. Firstly, Westpark Fitness is home to Ireland’s only stainless steel pool (read why this matters here) and secondly, it is an ideal time for people to learn this skill as summer (and summer holidays) approach!
Swimming
To power your body to move through the water, both your arms and legs are used to support your bodyweight, to balance and float and to propel your movement. Due to this, swimming is known as a full and total body exercise that is great for burning calories and developing stamina. By burning calories, your body is primed to reduce fat deposits which results in a more taut and toned bodily appearance (think of how streamlined professional swimmers look). By developing a longer and stronger stamina, you will be able to spend longer in the pool and increase the amount of quality time completing swimming as exercise.
Knowing the importance and benefits of this exercise, we are proud to offer swimming lessons in Tallaght for both adults and children at Westpark Fitness.
