Acai Bowl – Recipe of the Week

An acai bowl is a great and simple recipe that is hugely healthy and nutritious. You can customise it to your liking too and add toppings of your choosing so that it contains what you like and tastes how you like. Known as a superfood, acai (pronounced ah-sy-e) is available in many health food shops today and can come in puree and powder sachet forms. This recipe uses puree.

Recipe Ingredients List

  • Unsweetened Acai Puree Sachet (100g)
  • Banana (one frozen)
  • Peanut Butter
  • Mixed Berries

Step 1
Remove your frozen banana from the freezer and add this to the blender. If your acai puree sachet is frozen (which most of them in this puree from are stored in the freezer), run the packet under some warm water for a few seconds and then empty the sachet into the blender. Add a splash of water and blend until it becomes a smooth and thick consistency.

Step 2
Pour the contents of the blender into a bowl and let it settle – using a spoon to help if you need. The great thing about this acai bowl recipe is that you can customise it to you liking. This recipe for example suggests that you add a couple of spoons of peanut butter to it and some berries of your choice (these can be either mixed in or left on top of the bowl).
