Eating well does not have to be a chore

Eating well does not have to be a chore.

The key to success, whatever your aim is in the gym, is going to be built around what you eat, I’m sure you have heard it before but YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!

Time and time again you see people working so hard in the gym but then you see them in the supermarket and understand why they are not achieving their goal.

Due to the increase in social media and fitness bloggers, who have the time to spend hours preparing mouth-watering food for that perfect photo, we tend to think we couldn’t prepare a healthy nutritious meal easily.

That’s where you are wrong, eating clean, healthy and nutritious meals daily is about getting back to basics, eating REAL food.

Did it grow on a tree? Did it grow in the ground? Or was it alive?……..if so eat it, if it didn’t……Don’t! Literally, plan your snacks and meals around this thought!

Don’t over think the ingredients, look to add in as many nutrients as possible in every meal. Be aware of hidden calories in how you cook and the sauces, oil or butter used and don’t think for one second you need to be a 5-star chef.

Eating healthy does not have to be tasteless or flavourless but is about trying out new foods and adding flavour through spices and colour

Below are some simple meals that you could make daily that contain less than 5 ingredients:

Breakfast

Overnight oats – porridge oats, cinnamon, chia seeds, water/milk/milk alternatives like oat milk
Smoked salmon and eggs (poached or boiled) or just eggs

Lunch

Chicken/turkey breast with different salad mixes

Dinner

Turkey/chicken mince with roasted veg(peppers, onions and some garlic work best) with brown rice (add some Franks sauce and maybe even some Glenilen farm yoghurt for flavour)
Lean mince, a tin of tomatoes, plenty of veg and some sweet potatoes or rice.
