What is Aqua Fitness?
Aqua Fitness is a fun aerobic workout in the water that will increase fitness levels while helping to tone and strengthen your entire body too. This class benefits your body by providing twelve times the resistance of land-based classes, yet puts only 10% of the stress and strain on your body. In this class you burn up to 250 calories and more!
Type of Resistance Training
Water aerobics (known too as waterobics, aquatic fitness, aqua fitness or aquafit) is the performance of aerobic exercise in fairly shallow water such as in a swimming pool. Done mostly vertically and without swimming (typically in waist deep or slightly deeper water), it is a type of resistance training. As such, Aqua Fitness is a form of aerobic exercise that requires water-immersed participants. Most of the class is in a group fitness setting with a trained professional teaching for 45 minutes. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music. Different forms of water aerobics include Aqua Zumba, water yoga, aqua aerobics, and even aqua jog.
