The Benefits of Group Exercise

02 Oct 2019

While many people really enjoying exercising and working out on their own, there are many benefits to group exercise too. From accountability to motivation and support, having a ‘workout buddy’ or exercising with your fellow Westpark Fitness friends can really make a difference when working to reach and maintain your health and fitness goals. If you want to try this too, we have guest passes that your friends or family can purchase so that you can experience exercising in the gym and pool together (classes are not included)!

Accountability
By having someone who goes to the gym with you and relies on you to exercise with them, this adds an aspect of accountability to your workouts. As such, if you decide not to exercise on any particular day; you also jeopardise the planned exercise of those who would have went to the gym with you. With this, you become responsible not just for your own fitness and have an accountability to more than yourself. Luckily for you, Westpark Fitness is a premier fitness facility that you are always sure to enjoy visiting with our modern and spacious gym space, state-of-the-art equipment and Ireland’s only stainless steel swimming pool.

Motivation
Your main motivation when it comes to exercising and working out should be to better yourself and your health and your fitness. Surrounding yourself with others who share the same mindset can only help you to feel this way too and to fuel your workouts in this way. Likewise if your fellow Westpark Fitness friend who you choose to exercise with are feeling low on energy or motivation, you can be the one to spur them onwards when it comes to going to the gym and optimising your time there. As such, one of the major benefits of group exercise is that you can be there for those who you exercise with – just like how they can be there for you too!

Support
Some exercises require two or more people to complete properly and this is where having someone nearby is also helpful. As the saying goes, two minds are better than one and this rings true on the gym floor two. An extra set of eyes can spot if your form or posture needs to be corrected when it comes to some movements. Likewise you may notice an aspect that your ‘gym buddy’ may need to improve on to maintain their health and safety while working out. The support you can receive is a huge benefit of group exercise and you are sure to feel the benefits of this both inside and outside of the gym.
