January is the month which everyone makes their new year resolution – to get fit & healthy which usually lasts for 3 to 4 months and then they are back to square one, but take a few kick-start tips from us and you’ll stay on course to have a great year.
In the past, surveys have shown that within four months of joining a gym 66% of members stop attending. There’s something about this time of year that changes our habits. Whether it’s lack of motivation or just a desire to spend more of the lighter evenings outdoors, you can’t afford to give up all the good work you’ve done so far. Among the best tips experts have given us on staying motivated include:
Take a Test
Don’t just go by the scales and the tape measure to see how your fitness regime is going. Book a body-composition test in the gym, get your blood pressure test, we even have cholesterol testing.
Goal Setting
You are 40% more likely to work out if you have a strategy in place. So draw up a calendar of monthly workouts you’re going to do and cross them off as you go – if you have to miss any for a very good reason then you must put them into the next month. You need to set yourself a goal – the gaol needs to be realistic. Discuss your goal with one of Westpark’s trainers and they will put you on the right track to reaching your goals.
Group Training
