7 Ways to Boost your Brain
1. Become an early bird
Your brain is at its sharpest first thing in the morning. If you take a test before midday you’ll boost your success rate by up to 5% - Your motto “Early to bed & early to rise.”
2. Chewing Gum
Chewing gum not only improves your breath, it improves your brain also! It raises your heart rate, which in turn delivers more oxygen and glucose to the brain. The saliva it also creates boosts your memory, triggering a release of insulin, which stimulates the memory receptors in the brain.
3. Vitamin B
Vitamin B6 helps your long term memory while 1,2 & 12 repair and manufacture brain tissue. You will find Vit B naturally from chicken, oily fish & bananas. If you don’t think your getting enough of the B’s try a B supplement e.g. B12 tablets.
4. Learn a trick from the Ladies
Women have made an art out of multitasking and it seems men should be doing the same. Doing more then one task at a time is a great brain booster. Put on the TV and the radio at the same time, try to concentrate on both, then try to concentrate on each individually this is a great way to train your brain. You will find it will help you improve your focus.
5. Eat like a cow
Eating little and often will provide your body with a constant supply of energy, while eating a huge meal pushes all the blood to your stomach to help digest the food taking it away from the brain. Learn to graze...
6. Become bilingual
Learning a new language helps to keep your brain sharp! According to research speaking a second language alters your grey matter – the area of the brain, that helps you process information. In the same way that going to the gym gives you bigger ‘guns’, exercising your mind with a language will give you ‘more grey matter.’
7. Herbal medicines
Adding a touch of ‘rosemary’ to what you're cooking improves the flavour and also your brain. It increases blood flow to your brain and encourages your body and mind to function better together. Adding some ‘sage’ will help improve concentration .
